Style Sheets

Style Sheet is a group of formatting attributes which are identified by a single name that apply to a box.  Note that style sheets are not exposed in some versions fo the site builder.  It enables you to control a wide variety of settings, including font size, decoration (bold, italics and underline) and color, as well as alignment and hyperlink (link) styles and overall formatting of entire boxes, content objects and individual text elements.  It also can be used to apply decorative backgrounds.

Where and How is the Style Sheet used?

When editing in layout mode you select a stylesheet for a box and that box adopts all of the formatting specified in the styelsheet:   If you do not explicity select a style sheet, the Default Style Sheet (the style sheet specified as the Default in the Style Sheets folder on the Style tab) will be used.

To specify a style sheet as the Default, select it from the Style Sheets folder on the Style tab, then click .  A check mark will appear next to the selected style sheet.

Colors

The colors displayed on, and thus available to, the style sheet are determined by the selected Palette.  The palette is where you select the six background and text colors that will be available for use throughout your site.  In order to change the colors available for the style sheet, you must either:  1) Select a different palette;  2) Modify the selected palette; or  3) Create a new palette, then select the newly-created palette for the style sheet.

Why Should I Use a Style Sheet?

¤ When you make a change to one attribute of the style (i.e. Colors, Fonts, Hyperlink Styles, etc.), all boxes, content objects and text elements throughout the site that are controlled by the style sheet will be reformatted automatically!

¤ A Style Sheet allows you to create a consistent look and feel for boxes, content objects and text elements on a page, or throughout the site.
